For 60 years, Latin Percussion (LP) has been handcrafting authentic, high-quality percussion instruments originally inspired by the legendary artists and music of mid-century Latin jazz. When many players in New York City were unable to acquire the Cuban drums they preferred, LP founder Martin Cohen worked with them to develop instruments to their specifications and LP was born.
The LP60 Collection pays tribute to the original LP instruments and artists that helped trailblaze the future for Latin music and beyond, while creating an enduring bond with the musical community. These commemorative instruments offer vintage features like fiberglass bongos and congas, steel timbales with rolled out bottoms, and new twists on LP originals such as the Afuche and the Jam Block.
